As with all Trollbeads charm beads, this bead is handmade by experts who have been trained to create this little work of art. In this blog we endeavour to explain the reasons behind the delay in supply...

We are thrilled with the response to the launch of the stunning new RAF Benevolent Heart bead designed especially by talented Trollbeads originator, Lise Aagaard. As you may already know, demand has been very high which is fantastic and not surprising!

In order to avoid frustration we want to ensure that everyone is aware that this very special bead is not limited edition but is part of the collection. In other words it is here to stay for the time being.

Truth be told that, to date only two Trollbeads artisans have mastered the incredibly intricate technique of creating this stunning bead featuring a red heart set in a white circle with a vivid blue surround and therefore production is taking a little longer than anticipated. We want all our loyal fans and collectors to rest assured that we will do our utmost to ensure that everyone who orders one of these beads through an authorised Trollbeads retailer will eventually receive one if possible.

Thank you for your patience!

In today’s world where information is passed on almost at the speed of light, it is important that this information is accurate. Like Chinese whispers – myth and truth can often get muddled. For this reason we at Trollbeads UK & Ireland want to ensure that our loyal customers are fully aware of who’s who in the wonderful world of Trollbeads.

The very first Trollbeads came to life in 1976 and were created by Søren (Silversmith) Nielsen. For a while, the beads lived a quiet life in his father Svend’s jewellery shop in Copenhagen, Denmark. Some years later, Søren’s sister Lise Aagaard (nee Nielsen), opened another jewellery store and eventually put the beads on silver bracelets – this was the start of the bead-on-bracelet concept.

From then on the Trollbeads movement started….

Lise and Søren have two brothers – Jens and Per Nielsen – who are also part of the family business. The reasonably prevalent Scandinavian name Aagaard was introduced into the Nielsen family through Lise’s marriage to Peter Aagaard. So to clarify, there is no connection between Lise Aagaard of Trollbeads who is globally recognised as the brain child of the modern charm bead, and the Danish firm Aagaard (Lovelinks).

The Trollbeads Family

Further brotherly Trollbeads confusion has been created by the American-based brothers Morten and Michael Petersen. Morten being the founder of Lund Trading, the previous Trollbeads distributor in North America, and Michael the former owner of the modern Pandora before he sold the business back to Copenhagen and its current corporate owners. None of these brothers are in any way related to the Nielsen/Aagaard family.

We hope this clarifies any confusion that may exist! If you have any burning questions relating to Trollbeads, we are always happy to answer them if possible. Just pass them on to us in a comment below and we get back to you as soon as possible…!

In this short blog we endeavour to answer the age old question 'which length Trollbeads Foxtail bracelet should I purchase?' If you are just about to start out on your Trollbeads journey, here are some keys facts, compiled by the Trollbeads UK team, that might be of some assistance.

How do I know what size Trollbeads bracelet to purchase? This question popped up the other day and it was interesting to hear the different responses around the office here at Trollbeads UK. So we thought the following information was long overdue…

How to fit a Trollbeads bracelet!

To choose the correct bracelet length, first measure the smallest part of the wrist, e.g. 17cm, and then add 1cm to determine the actual chain length. In this case you would need to purchase an 18cm bracelet, code 15220 (17cm + 1cm = 18cm). To help you choose the right size bracelet, Trollbeads has coded the foxtail bracelet as follows:

If you need a 16cm Silver Trollbeads bracelet the code is 15218, for a 17cm Silver Trollbeads bracelet the code is 15219 and if purchasing an 18cm Silver Trollbeads bracelet the code would be 15220.

Trollbeads Lace Lock

You will then need to select a Trollbead lock, this will add another 2cm to the length of your bracelet. This additional slack will allow for your bracelet to remain comfortable as more beads are added and your own personal Trollbeads story begins to unfold.

Trollbeads Big Flower Lock

However, please be aware that the more intricate Trollbeads Big Flower Lock 10101 and Big Fish Lock 10102 are 3cm in length, as opposed to the other locks that are 2cm in length.

Everyone here agrees that as a general ‘rule of thumb’ you should be able to fit either two or three fingers between your Trollbeads bracelet and your wrist to ensure that the bracelet is not too tight, thus putting too much pressure on the Trollbeads lock. As a precaution we would always recommend that you purchase a Trollbeads Silver Stopper and/or a Trollbeads Safety Chain to keep your Trollbeads charm beads safely in place just in case!!

Do you have any further tips that you could add to this blog? Maybe a little gem that helped you when you purchased your Trollbeads bracelet! If so just let everyone know in a comment below!

We are constantly asked this question! Trollbeads is the original Danish charm bead jewellery. It was Trollbeads which, 35 years ago, first introduced the concept of collectable individual beads that can be put together, added to or interchanged, to create bespoke bracelets and necklaces. The quality, history and originality of Trollbeads set the jewellery apart.

Lise Aagaard, her family and extended family of designers are the creative and innovative force that started the Trollbeads phenomenon and they remain the momentum that drives the brand forward, introducing names and stories for each bead, and launching new products and ideas to keep the concept alive and vital. Their imagination and creativity is trend setting and keeps the brand at the forefront of developments.

Great care goes into the creation of each piece in the silver collection, intricate figures and shapes are individually hand made by pouring molten silver into a plaster cast which rotates in a centrifuge. The beads are then dipped in an acid bath before being polished, rinsed and finally dried in sawdust before completion. Trollbeads silver pieces are more than just pieces of jewellery, they are a real passion and for true aficionados only the original will do.

Sarah Morfoot, MD of Trollbeads UK comments ‘when I first saw Trollbeads I was really excited by the authenticity of the beads, not only were they gorgeous to look at but they held a unique fascination too. There was nothing else quite like that in the UK or Ireland.

We introduced Trollbeads in 2005 into the UK and since then they have become incredibly popular. However, despite its success Trollbeads remains very much a family business and it’s a business that genuinely cares for its customers and for the world in which we live. That counts for a lot!’

Another short FAQ blog to answer one of the most frequently asked questions about Trollbeads charm beads. Here Trollbeads Denmark explain about hallmarking past and present.

We are quite often asked the question about hallmarking on Trollbeads charm beads and whether it is a fake or not if there is no stamp. When asked the question, Trollbeads Denmark responded with the following answer:

When Trollbeads started in 1976, the beads were not stamped at all. Therefore, if you own a Trollbeads charm bead, produced before 2006, without any markings it does not necessarily mean that it is a fake.

As a matter of a fact, up until 2006 only 90 % of the silver and gold beads had a hallmark stamp. Then from January 2006 onwards all gold and silver Trollbeads items were stamped. Trollbeads glass charm beads were first stamped from May 2008. Therefore there are many genuine Trollbeads charm beads in circulation which were made before that time, with no stamp. It is understandable that this causes some confusion.

Trollbeads Hallmarking on Charm Beads

More recent Trollbeads products have the following hallmark stamps on them.

Silver: 925S LAA

Gold beads & locks: 750 LAA

Gold chains: 585 LAA

Here in the UK any Trollbeads silver item over 7.7 grams will have a UK hallmark.
