Thank you to everyone who entered the Trollbeads ‘Win an Exclusive Valentine’s Bracelet’ Competition. We had a wonderful response to this competition and it was fascinating to read all the entries and learn how Trollbeads charm beads have such meaning in so many peoples’ lives.

We’re delighted to announce the winner of the beautiful Valentine’s Bracelet and the 10 runners up, who have each won a Pink Agate Bead from the new spring collection.

The Winner is Craig from Surrey, whose favourite bead is ‘Endless’. Craig says, ‘This was the first bead I bought my wife, as an eternity gift to mark the birth of our first baby. Instead of the traditional ring, I discovered Trollbeads, so bought her an ‘Eternity Bracelet’ with ‘Endless’ as her first bead. Better than the eternity ring, as we now both collect many symbolic beads to add to the eternity bracelet to remind us of all our precious memories through life. It’s perfect!’

Congratulations Craig, your Trollbeads Valentine’s bracelet is on its way to you!

The runners up, who have each won a beautiful Pink Agate Bead, are:

My favourite bead is ‘Earth’ as I bought it for my wife and she is my world! Michael from Gloucester

‘Unity’ – It was my first Trollbead and given to me by my children to represent unity in our family. Linda from Locks Heath

‘Transition Woman’ – I love this as it symbolises in one tiny bead all that happens in life. All the joy, the sadness, the fun, the hardship – the journey through life. Patricia, Northern Ireland

‘Two Sides to Everything’ – This very clever bead portrays an idea that every negative has a positive; every path has an alternative route to dreams we all crave. Angela, Tyne and Wear

‘Milky Way’ bead because all the specs of silver inside the bead signify dreams and everyone has a dream that we all wish one day come true and wearing it on your arm everyday can make that happen. Daniel , High Wycombe

My most loved Trollbead is ‘Blue Desert’. As a child I adored collecting pretty marbles and often think glass Trollbeads are my ‘grown up’ marbles. My most treasured marble was a ‘Blue Lady’, blue desert reminds me of it and transports me back to childhood. Karen, Bracknell

‘The Hare and the Tortoise’ because whatever life throws at you, you know you’ll get there in the end. Yvonne, Birmingham

It has to be ‘Fairy’ as it reminds me of being very young and camping out at the bottom of the garden waiting… just waiting… Alex, Herts

‘Ocean’ – because it sums up so many journeys – from North Cape to New Zealand and reminds me of life’s changing nature and beauty. Mrs Barnard, Dorset

And finally, we have a joint runner-up to finish with -

I love my ‘Silver Buttons’ bead as it remind me of playing with my Grandma’s button tin when I was a little girl – a long time ago!! Lesley, York

I love the ‘Silver Buttons’ bead as it reminds me of my wonderful grandmother, ‘Nanny Buttons’. When I was a little girl, my Nanny used to keep me entertained by letting me play with her button collection. I had hours of fun playing with her extensive assortment of jumper, cardigan and coat adornments. I would run my little fingers through her button box, mesmerised as all the different shaped buttons clattered and clicked together – so many different colours and textures colliding with each other, it was always a treat to spend an afternoon with Nanny Buttons. I love Nanny Buttons for encouraging my creativity and not minding when I covered every surface in her living room with buttons, all carefully laid out in spiralling patterns. Wearing this bead on my bracelet is very special to me as it makes me feel close to my very special Nanny, as it’s obvious to see where this fascination with buttons has led – to Trollbeads of course! Rebecca, Oxfordshire

Many congratulations to Kristi Denning from the USA, winner of the Trollbeads People’s Bead 2010. Her winning charm bead design is the Ice Bear. In Kristi’s words “the ice bear is strong, beautiful and in trouble. A constant reminder of the fragile climate we need to protect. With luck his story will have a happy ending.”Well it certainly has been a happy ending for Kristi; let’s hope it’s the same for the ice bear.

Kristi received the highest number of public votes and wins the coveted prize of receiving her design made in gold, and becoming a Trollbeads designer. The Ice Bear will be available in silver in this year’s Christmas collection.

A poignant message in our environmentally-conscious world

Denmark chose this bead to be a finalist because it illustrates so perfectly the environmental struggle that we all – animals and humans – are facing today.

This is a wonderful achievement as Denmark received over 6,000 entries for this year’s People’s Bead competition.

So, we’ve finished our very first Twitter competition, which ran over three months. People were asked to tweet a given #tag each week and add a comment of their own. Entrants were allowed to tweet up to 10 times per day, and winners were drawn at random by an independent third party.

We had lots of fun reading your tweets, and we were delighted to brighten the days of the winners at the end of each month when the winners were announced. However, we also had a couple of people tweet us feedback that they were unhappy that people who only ever tweeted competition entries were allowed to enter, and that they had thought that the content of their tweets was being judged. As the whole idea of it was to make you smile… we thought we’d get some of your ideas for next time.

What makes a Twitter competition fun for you?

Before we embark on more Twitter competitions, we thought we’d ask for your ideas for what makes them both fun and fair for all. Please use the comment feature below to share your ideas for a really fun and fair competition that we can run on Twitter in the future.
