Trollbeads Collector - Kelly Martin

by Kelly Martin

This is a guest blog from Kelly Martin from Cheshire. Kelly tells us how she fell in love with Trollbeads, the original charm bead bracelet, after researching all the brands on the market. She describes how the mysticism, craftsmanship and natural materials of Trollbeads stole her heart. You can also find Kelly on Twitter @DesertRoseKM

Although I’m not the type to wear much more than a pair of earrings, a couple of years ago I felt the desire to own something unique, something I could look at and enjoy - earrings and necklaces just wouldn’t do… It had to be a bracelet. But where did I start looking for something that I could adapt to fit my quirky personality?

The search for authenticity

The search began in November 2008 whilst on holiday in Hong Kong. As exotic as the destination was and as luxurious as the shopping malls were, I just couldn’t find anything that moved me. It was not until a few weeks later when I was back in the UK and visiting my sister that I noticed her charm bracelet, a similar style to the Trollbeads bracelets I have now come to know and love. Although my instinct was just to buy the same brand of bracelet that she had, as fate would have it nowhere had them in stock being so close to Christmas. It was then that I began researching into different styles and when I came across the Trollbeads brand. I knew I had found a perfect match to what I was looking for and nothing else would do. The combination of mystical, real gemstone charms and interchangeable locks to create truly unique jewellery were the key selling points that had me hooked.

After a quick search on the Trollbeads website I found that my nearest Trollbeads retailer was just a short walk from where I work. I decided to investigate on my lunch break the next day. Five minutes after entering the shop I was the proud owner of  my gorgeous new bracelet. Starting with the simple yet elegant Flower Lock and Symbols charm bead, I now own over 40 charms, a collection I will continue to grow for the rest of my life and hope to pass on to my family to continue.

From wrist to wedding day

Kelly's Trollbeads Charm Bracelet

Kelly's Troll Bracelet

My collection is very special to me, as many of my beads have been given to me by loved ones. Like when my fiancé who bought me the Limited Edition Trollbeads - Jasper Collection as a surprise one day when I was having a really bad day, or the beads I got on holiday in Dubai in 2009 – the same holiday that we got engaged on.  I am very rarely seen without my troll charms. I love my bracelet so much that when choosing my wedding dress, my primary focus was which dress would go with my Trollbeads! The wedding is in August 2011 and I cannot wait to have my bracelet photographed and take it’s place in the wedding album to mark this very special day and enhance the sentimental value of my Trollbeads even further.

Sharing my Trollbeads passion with others

I’m also happy to say that at least two of my friends have also caught the Trollbeads bug since seeing and hearing me rave about my bracelet and how fantastic Trollbeads are!

Another aspect of Trollbeads that I love is the interaction with their fans with their competitions, like the People’s Bead for example. This type of interaction makes humble fans like myself feel part of something much bigger and more special than simply owning a piece of jewellery.

Trollbeads owners are a very privileged group of people who not only have exquisite taste, but also own something timeless that will always hold meaning and express truly diverse and individual personalities.
